dc.description.abstractModular drinking water treatment systems (MDWTS) provide a sustainable option for treating raw water for potable and domestic use in a safe and reliable way where typical centralized drinking water infrastructure is either not available or not viable to be built. These pre-engineered systems are gaining popularity, especially in developing countries, due to their ease of installation, minimal operational oversight, scalability, and economic feasibility. One of the biggest advantages an MDWTS offers is the flexibility in terms of the treatment options available for a range of flows as well as the quality of the raw water to be treated. This chapter will take a look at the basic discussion around the modular drinking water treatment systems, the various components within these systems, and how they relate to the treatment goals, current practices, and a few case studies of some systems installed in various sectors. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.
