Abstract: The impact of generalized selection combining (GSC) scheme on physical layer security of a cognitive radio network (CRN) in the presence of multiple primary users (PUs) has been examined in this paper. Our proposed model consists of single antenna based secondary transmitter (StX), legitimate receiver (SrX) with L antennas, a eavesdropper with NE antennas and multiple PUs with the single antenna. GSC technique is employed at the SrX and maximal ratio combining (MRC) is applied at the eavesdropper. A new closed-form expression for exact and asymptotic secrecy outage probability (SOP) is derived over Rayleigh fading channels and also compare the secrecy performance of GSC with SC and MRC when applied at SrX. Based upon asymptotic expression, the compact expressions for secrecy diversity order and array gain has been investigated. Our results also show the effect of multiple primary users on secrecy performance of secondary network and simulation is also carried out to check the validity of computational results. © 2018 IEEE.
