Abstract: | Over the past few years, there has been a tremendous rise in energy demand owing to ever increasing urbanization and industrialization. This is evident from the rapid exhaustion of the available fossil fuels and numerous environmental hazards. This paper is an attempt to highlight the trade-off obtained between the minimization of cost and emission by implementing Normal Boundary Intersection (NBI) technique. The paper solves Security Constrained Unit Commitment(SCUC) with and without contingencies employing Search Space Based Crazy Particle Swarm Optimization (SSB-CPSO) algorithm. The efficacy of the proposed methodology has been tested on IEEE-118 bus system in MATLAB. The numerical results thus obtained reveal the efficiency of the algorithm by virtue of the nearoptimal solutions that this technique yields. © 2019 IEEE. |
