Abstract: Rotational Inertia is an integral part of the synchronous generation-dominated power system. This paper attempts to examine inertial support present in a power system after an arbitrary disturbance strikes the system using different approaches. A customised version of the IEEE standard distribution system with loads, radial feeders, and intermittent generating sources (Solar PV Array) makes up the test system utilised for the study. Inertia is calculated using the system's frequency response and the change in active power. In order to find the appropriate inertia value for various contingency conditions, different data processing techniques are first used to identify the precise size of the arbitrary disturbance. © 2023 IEEE.
