In Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) driven wind energy conversion system connected to the grid, it is essential to extract maximum power from the wind turbine and reduce the losses in the generator. The objective of maximum power tracking and loss minimization can be achieved by controlling the rotor currents through the Rotor Side Converter (RSC) vector control or by sharing the reactive power between the converters. In this paper, the optimal magnetizing current of DFIG is computed in coordination with the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control, and at below rated wind speed, the optimal value of the reactive power-sharing ratio is proposed for an efficient system. However, the vector control on Grid Side Converter (GSC) maintains the reactive power and DC-link voltage for the power transfer. A Matlab/Simulink model of 2.5 MW capacity is developed for the proposed strategies to analyze the grid-interactive DFIG fed wind turbine's performance. © 2021 IEEE.en_US
